The Leader Profile

A personality profile built on the Big Five, from the public-domain IPIP items. Take the quick test of 20 questions or the full test of 120. The result is yours alone, until you choose to share it with your group.

What it brings

  • For you

    Know your own tendencies

    • Five domains, each placed lower, middle or higher on the answer scale.
    • Never good or bad: a trait describes you.
    • Private by default, and yours to delete at once.
  • For the leadership group

    Understand each other better

    • Each member shares at the level they choose, or not at all.
    • People lists what each member has shared, and nothing more.
    • A starting point for talking about how you work together.
  • For the organisation

    Development, never selection

    • It is for each leader’s own development.
    • It is never used for selection, promotion or performance evaluation.
    • No admin or coach has a path to anyone’s profile.

How it works

Two lengths

The quick test asks 20 questions and is labelled a first look. The full test asks 120, with the five domains and their facets. Both use the published IPIP items, word for word.

  • Progress is saved, so you can stop and come back.
  • Your answers are not stored: only the sums the result needs.
Sample dataThe quick test on a phone: question 1 of 20, “Am the life of the party.”, with Moderately accurate chosen.
The quick test’s first question. A fictional group: every name and answer is invented.

Your result, on Me

Each domain is shown as lower, middle or higher on the answer scale, with your own position marked. No norm group is used yet, and the page says so.

  • You choose what each group sees: nothing, domains, or domains and facets.
  • A retake replaces the profile and resets sharing to nothing.
Sample dataThe Leader Profile on Me: five domains with a band and a dot each. What the group sees is set to domains.
A quick test result, shared with the group as domains. A fictional group: every name and answer is invented.

What the group sees

People lists each member and what they have shared. A profile that is not shared reads “Not shared”, the same as no profile, so no one can tell whether one exists.

Sample dataPeople: eight members; Kari Nordmann shares five domains as bands, and the others read Not shared.
People, with one profile shared as domains. A fictional group: every name and answer is invented.

Three levels of sharing

  • 1

    Nothing

Your profile shows as Not shared. This is where every profile starts.

  • 2

    Domains

The five domains, as lower, middle or higher. No facets.

  • 3

    Domains and facets

The five domains and their facets, as lower, middle or higher.

Questions and answers

Where do the questions come from?
From the International Personality Item Pool, which is in the public domain. The quick test is the Mini-IPIP and the full test is the IPIP-NEO-120, both word for word.
Who can see my profile?
Only you, until you share it with a group. You choose the level for each group, and it applies at once.
Can I delete it?
Yes. Deleting removes the profile and every share at once. It cannot be undone.
Is it compared with other leaders?
Not yet. Results are placed on the answer scale in three equal bands, and the page says that no norm group is used.
